I have just opened my account on Open DNS and my router name CISCO 3825 was not on the list of routers on your website. Manually configured the DNS servers on the Router.

Also followed other instructions and cleared/flushed the dns but I am not able to block social networking sites like facebook etc.

how do I know that Open DNS is working and another question do you need a wired connection to the router or you can have wireless connecrtion from the computer to the router.

If you want to check whether OpenDNS is working, go to: http://welcome.opendns.com/ and the page will tell you whether your settings are configured correctly.

So I have checked this site http://welcome.opendns.com/ to make sure OpenDNS is enabled & working which it is according to the confirmation page after I clicked on the weblink. HOWEVER, its not blocking adult websites. I even blocked google.com just to make sure its working but google.com doesn't get blocked.

Live Parental Controls is enabled |  Filtering Level : Moderate. (I've tried 'High - same result, nothing gets blocked)

Any HELP would be VERY appreciated.

Did you follow the instructions in the initial post for this thread? If not, go back and follow them now.

Do you also have an OpenDNS network configured at dashboard.opendns.com ? If so you MUST delete that network since these networks and LPC are incompatible with each other. In addition to that you MUST disable the OpenDNS addresses you added to your router, namely 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 or the FamilyShield routers.

Ensure that you're using OpenDNS by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com/
Ensure that there is not network defined at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ - delete it!

If you're still having problems, copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following diagnostic command:

       nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.

Welcome DNS comes up and the network is not defined on the dashboard. I attached a photo.

This doesn't look like plain text...

Everything looks good from this output.  If you're still having problems, you need to refer to Netgear support, as said in the original message of this thread.

Thanks Rotblitz finally worked for me. I used the second link in the opendns and worked like charm. Thanks again.

Turn off AP Mode. OpenDNS filtering does not work with AP Mode turned on. Go to router administration, select Advanced Tab, then Advanced Setup. Go to Wireless AP, and uncheck Enable AP Mode. The router will reboot and then the Parental Controls will work fine.
