If you see this error message when you are trying to register a Netgear router with Live Parental Controls, it means this router has been registered by another user in our database.
To resolve the error that your device is already registered, please provide your router's MAC address so that our support representatives will be able to lookup and release the device from the associated OpenDNS account. The MAC address will have a combination of twelve numbers and letters, and sometimes it's printed on the back or the bottom of your router as the WAN or Internet MAC address. Once this is found, send an email to email@example.com with the MAC address and some details of the issue you are experiencing.
Below are some other steps to help find your router's WAN/Internet MAC address:
- Login to your router at http://routerlogin.net/ and click on Router Status or Click on Network Map (if you are seeing the NETGEAR genie interface- http://routerlogin.net/adv_index.htm)
- Click on the router icon and send a screenshot of the information you see on that page, please include the browser's full screen with the url/address bar shown (instructions on taking a screenshot can be found at take-a-screenshot.org/).
- If you cannot locate the MAC address, please download and run our diagnostic tool, and click __Run Test__. After the test completes, copy the URL and paste it into your email message.
The URL should start with http://opendnsupdate.appspot.com/d/######.
