TECHNICOLOR TG582n Telnet
Unlike most of our support articles, we try to provide easy configuration steps for most popular routers, but not all routers can be configured with OpenDNS due to the ISP's restrictions. We were updated with a support article for the Technicolor device to configure OpenDNS, but this is mostly geared for intermediate to advanced users, for the steps are mainly in terminal/command line using Telnet. In general, the TECHNICOLOR TG582n cannot be configured with a 3rd party DNS, and we offer alternative methods to configure your network:
- Set up your computer's DNS settings using the steps at https://support.opendns.com/forums/21618384-Computer-Configuration. This is as effective as using your router, but you'll need to set up your computer's manually with the above instruction set.
- Set up a 2nd router to your network and configure that device with our steps at https://support.opendns.com/categories/20080020-OpenDNS-Device-Configuration. Then have all your devices connect to that 2nd router to be filtered by OpenDNS. You will need to change the Wifi password on the first router, so nobody can connect through there and skip around your filters.
If you're comfortable with Telnet and terminal commands, please visit the following URL how to configure the device with OpenDNS.
