Your OpenDNS filtering can be customized to block specific domains or allow domains that are blocked by your categories. To do so, these domains need to be added to the Dashboard. Domains you wish to block specifically are added to the "Always block" list while domains you wish to allow access are added to the "Never block" list.
Helpful Tip:
When adding domains, please be sure to add them in the form "domain.com" rather than "www.domain.com" for better effectiveness that includes subdomains like pictures.domain.com.
Adding Domains to the Lists
1. Log into the OpenDNS Dashboard. Click on the "Settings" tab.
2. Next, either select your network from the dropdown list (Option 1) or click on your network's IP address in the list (Option 2). Both options will lead to the same place.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and ensure that you have selected the correct list. Next, type in the domain to add, and click "ADD DOMAIN".
Helpful Tip:
When adding domains, please be sure to add them in the form "domain.com" rather than "www.domain.com" for better effectiveness that includes subdomains like pictures.domain.com.
4. We advise that you clear the cache on your network's devices to ensure that your settings take effect immediately. The change will go into effect within three minutes on the server side, but the local DNS cache on your computer may still provide an old, saved copy for hours.
If you have trouble while using this guide, restarting or rebooting them should flush the DNS and web browser caches on your devices.
