Comcast Xfinity need configurable Modem to set OpenDNS addresses
Have made every suggested change recommended by OpenDNS and after sending reports back to them they narrowed the issue to the Comcast DNS addresses 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.75.76 which cannot be changed in the Aris SB6121 modem. I'm using a Linksys WRT1900AC router. I've tried most work-arounds including setting the DNS in Windows 7 IPV4 (IPV6 is disabled) but it still won't use the OpenDNS addresses. No other workarounds change the DNS addresses to the ones OpenDNS recommends.
It appears that I need a user configurable modem that works with Comcast but they are to be difficult to identify. Comcast offers a compatibility list http://www.approvedmodems.com/comcast-xfinity.html but after checking several including the Cisco they aren't user configurable.
Has anyone found a Comcast compatible configurable modem? Or a viable workaround? Like I said, techs at OpenDNS have walked me through all workarounds and have narrowed it to the Comcast modem. I've read many OpenDNS and other threads but can't find this information.
Please do not respond to this posting by suggesting router changes, they do not work. This is a separate modem and according to OpenDNS that is where the issues lies.
Thank you

Hi,
I just had a look at the case you have opened with us. Do you have Avast antivirus installed by any chance? That antivirus has a Secure DNS feature which will cause this redirection.
We do have some documentation at https://support.opendns.com/entries/57943894-Avast-2015-Security-Suite-Secure-DNS-and-OpenDNS.
Please let us know if this resolved the issue.

Been there, done that. As I've already mentioned I've done everything your tech R. Ham asked me to do. Please see OpenDNS ticket ##267261
The reason I posted this is to hopefully find someone who has had this specific issue and cured it with a configurable Comcast modem. After looking at all the emails back and forth as well as all the diagnostic logs the narrowed it to the Comcast DNS entries hard coded into the SB6121 modem. Not looking to rehash the hours of back and forth, try this, try that which I've already done.
Thank you for responding

Your Linksys WRT1900AC router has three static DNS server addresses. Fill them all with OpenDNS resolver addresses:
208.67.222.222; 208.67.220.220; 208.67.222.220; 208.67.220.222If you have done this and it still does not work, copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following diagnostic command here:
nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.

No, you don't have the same issue. Don't post duplicates. You'll want to post the diagnostic command output as listed above.
