That's totally normal.  If you configure external resolver addresses (e.g. OpenDNS) on the LAN/DHCP side of the router, then this impacts or breaks internal name resolution, because an external DNS service cannot resolve your internal network names.

    Your options are:

    • Configure the external DNS service only on the WAN side of the router, if you can.
    • Run an own DNS server within your network.
    • Use your local hosts files to add your internal names with their internal IP addresses.  This requires static internal IP address configuration on these devices.

Thanks for the reply. I'll now do two things with it:

#1. Figure out what you just said.(Networking is my weakness)

#2. Try to implement these solutions on my network.

This should be a nice learning experience.

Fine.  If you need further hints don't hesitate to ask back.

"I have browsed the support forums here for hours and I cant find anything to help me."

Really?  You must have done something wrong.

OK thanks. I guess I should have worded my statement differently. Maybe like this?

"I have browsed the support forums here for hours and I cant seem to identify any answers to help me."

Now I can browse the web with proper phrasing like, ie. "DNS services and local networks".

    Again thanks for your assistance.
