For FIVE years I have not found a solution to this problem. I have a 2 Linux desktops,a windows 7 laptop,Linux Laptop and 5 android devices. All work fine, sharing files, printing e.t.c. IF I dont mess with the DNS settings. I add the open DNS entries in my E1200 router, restart router and poof, network is gone.
Weirdly enough, the android devices using ES File Manager can still access all the computers on the network. The Linux and windows machines...they cant see a thing UNLESS I enter the IP addresses in manually into the file managers, ex. smb://192.168.1.102
I started browsing these forums and I found and followed instructions here: https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/228007747-Configuration-for-Linksys-routers-E1200-E1500-E2500-E3200-E4200-WRT160n I put the .home in the DHCP domain name...EUREKA!! Everything started to work normally..for about 2 hours...then the network disappeared again.
I have browsed the support forums here for hours and I cant find anything to help me. Anyone able to shed some light on my situation? I'd Like to have my cake and eat it to so to speak. Thanks.
