Featur Request - Luci app for LEDE and OpenWRT
It would be nice to have single interface for configuring all OpenDNS features for OpenWRT, setting DNS servers, dynamic DNS.
-
But the LuCI app and the LEDE project are developed from/for OpenWRT. Therefore you must raise this feature request at OpenWRT, not at OpenDNS. OpenDNS are certainly not going to develop software for specific devices or firmwares, because their recursive DNS service is in no way related to specific devices or firmwares, but based on common internet standards.
-
Why not is simple.
OpenWRT is not an OpenDNS product. Why would they develop software for a specific product that is not theirs. They provide the information that OpenWRT and all other companies need to develop their products. It's then the responsibility of those companies to develop their own products.
Do you expect businesses in other industries to develop products for other companies just because it would make life easier for the users of those products?

OpenDNS is now Cisco Umbrella. They do offer software for specific products which is not theirs. It is unclear what the original poster is asking. I am taking the question as meaning that OpenDNS would offer a few $$ of a programmers time to code an optional package for LEDE which would provide a change to the DNS settings allowing entry of the API key and a port of the existing *NIX API code which proxies DNS lookups over HTTPS. If I understand correctly, then I agree.
Centralized Settings
MSPs can now manage customer settings at once, regardless of hardware platform.

Custom Integrations
For the first time, you can prevent — not only detect — threats both on and off the corporate network using APIs. OpenDNS Umbrella is the only cloud-delivered network security service that enforces your threat intelligence at the DNS layer.https://learn-umbrella.cisco.com/top-resources/custom-integrations

"OpenDNS would offer a few $$ of a programmers time to code an optional package for LEDE which would provide a change to the DNS settings "
Needless, because OpenWRT supports everything, setting 3rd party DNS services and also custom defined DDNS updates. There's nothing open to do.
"allowing entry of the API key and a port of the existing *NIX API code which proxies DNS lookups over HTTPS."
No problem, this exists too: https://dnscrypt.org/
And the intergrations you quote are just so called "strategic partnerships". Such partnerships must fit with their business and marketing strategies. It is not so much software development for others.
