Ensure that the option "Send Dns-O-Matic updates" is unchecked in the Updater settings unless you really use DNS-O-Matic.

If it is not this, what does "%APPDATA%\OpenDNS Updater\log.txt" say?

hi I have same problem, running OpenDNS Updater in MacOS. I have exactly similar snap posted above, showing that green button everytime when my router gets new address. I have also followed instruction given in this blog, but stil no luck. OpenDns doesn't change my new Ip hence filtering option doesn't take impact. I don't find "%APPDATA%\OpenDNS Updater\log.txt" as well in my macOs. Any help to fix this issue much appreciated.

Hi money13 - I have the same problem exactly. Did you ever manage to make it work? I've contacted OpenDNS support but that was two weeks ago and no response!

hi, no I gave up on that. I spent hours and hours to troubleshoot but it never worked in my mac. OpenDNS Updater works but it doesn't update filtering automatically. In windows I was not having this problem before. this started with me when I switched to MAc.

    "it doesn't update filtering automatically"

The Updater is not supposed to update your filtering, but just your IP address information at your dashboard.

Hi rotblitz - agree completely. My problem is that the Updater appears to be working (Network to update is my correct one, all settings are for dynamic IP etc) but just as the image above I get a green swirl and the unless I manually click it, the filtering is applied to my original IP address from when I set the network up and not the current one. I have no firewall on the Mac, the Updater simply doesn't seem forcing the IP change so that the filtering can work?

I don't know the Updater for Mac well enough, but same as for the Windows Updater, there should be a log file on disk which possibly enlightens more about what the issue may be.  Else open a ticket again and wait patiently.

To ensure that there is no network issue, you can update manually with a browser (Safari?) from this Mac:

    https://updates.opendns.com/nic/update?hostname=YourNetworkLabel

I am having this problem as well. I'm not sure how long, but at least a couple months. When my dynamic IP address changes, OpenDNS Updater shows the correct IP address, but the OpenDNS web site is still applying my filter settings to the old/previous IP address. The result is that my OpenDSN filter settings are having no effect.

I have removed and re-installed OpenDNS Updater as well as verified it's the current version 3.1.

I utilized the URL suggested by rotblitz to ensure there is no network issue, and it responded with "good", followed by my current IP address.

    I'm running macOS 10.15.3.

We other users can hardly help with this updater. You must raise a support ticket, link “submit a request” above.
