"I can't see any place in the r7000 settings to put the OPEN DNS numbers when the router is in AP mode."

Did you visit the Netgear community to find similar issues with the R7000?  The OpenDNS forum is not really the place to discuss Netgear router problems.

To analyse your current situation it would be useful to see the complete plain text output of these diagnostic commands:

    nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com. 208.67.220.220
    nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.
    nslookup whoami.akamai.net.
    netsh interface ipv4 show config
    netsh interface ipv6 show dns

OK.  I did go to the Netgear website and they recommended I go from access point (AP) mode back to router mode.  Which I did. They say I may double NAT but as I'm not a gamer, they didn't feel it would be a big deal. I didn't know that the Netgear routers have OPEN DNS built in.  So I used it and set it up.  I think I'm good to go. After I did all that, I ran the test you asked, results below.  Can you help me understand what these results mean? Thanks a ton.

You have LPC enabled, but your IP address 136.60.198.70 is also registered with an OpenDNS Home network.  LPC and OpenDNS Home are incompatible, and you can use only one service at any time.

    Delete the network at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/
Your LPC dashboard is only at https://netgear.opendns.com/

Yep, this looks all good.  You should be ready to use LPC.
