I was browsing the domain tagging the other day and noticed that roughly 19/20 domains in the "pornography" category are incorrectly tagged. I'm not sure why it happened, but the outcome is that we now have way too many domains tagged as pornography with most of them tagged incorrectly for whatever reason. As a result, people who want to help by approving pending domains become immediately discouraged and simply go away.
I think it's time to improve the process and clean up current mess. Here is what I suggest:
- Sort all domains in this category so that everything that contains suggestive words comes first. For example, if domain name contains words like "jav", "hentai" etc, it is very likely that this is indeed porn. This way the approval process will be significantly accelerated.
- The second problem is incorrectly tagged domains that are already there. This is also relatively easy to fix. Just an example from the first page. One of the domains here is "wellnesscafe.hu". I opened it and it appears to be some sort of Hungarian online magazine about health. Nothing to do with pornography, whatsoever. This domain was submitted by a fellow named "farmscott". On the same page we see other domains submitted by him - "qm120.com" and "inch.com". Neither is porn. So, what you should do is take all his "pornography" submissions, which are not yet approved, and remove them straight away. The fellow obviously doesn't understand what he's doing, and his submissions have zero value.
This way the number of domains will be reduced to a manageable size, and from this moment the community will start playing a more active role in tagging.
