Hi guys. I'm investigating why some apps on my Mac will not work.
My Wordpress app stopped working around the time when I set up OpenDNS so I'm wondering if it's getting blocked by it. How would I go about getting it whitelisted?
The option on the Dashboard is to "never block" a domain. What domain would I use for an app? I don't want to whitelist anything that ends with wordpress.com because that will be a very bad idea and besides, I don't even know if that's the domain of the app. How can I find out what domain name an app uses to connect to the Internet?
Recently, I also tried to use a Kindle app and got another "unable to connect to the Internet" error and I'm wondering if it suffers the same fate as Wordpress app. And again, I have the same question. What domain name do I use for this app to whitelist it?
There's been more instances where something that used to work doesn't anymore and I suspect OpenDNS is the culprit. For example, a TMC plugin for Netbeans also cannot connect to its server. Only now, I'm starting to piece it together and figure that it's not just "oh, the plugin stopped working, that's all" issue. There's a common theme here.
My Web content filtering is set to "Nothing blocked" currently but this isn't web content - these are requests from my machine to external servers. How do I allow them?
If I'm going about this totally wrong, then please, point me in the right direction.
Thank you in advance.
