    Inappropriate material is not being filtered.

    "Inappropriate material" is subjective.  Would you have clear examples?

    Also, a DNS service cannot block "material", but domains only.  Did you ensure that you blocked the domains hosting what you call "inappropriate material" at your dashboard?

    Meaning every porn site is coming through. I tried it both ways (changed DNS server addresses), on my router and on the device.

    same thing happens for me - but it is being successfully blocked on tablets (iPads).  Weird that wired computers allowing content yet is being successfully blocked on tablets.  Running OPENDNS Updater 2.2.1 and all settings correct.

    @gammydiaz

    You forgot to post specific example URLs.

    Post screen shots of https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ and https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/96342331/content_filtering here.  Also, post the output of the following command to here:

    nslookup www.exampleadultsite.com.

    @hgpilot

    Open your own thread, and post the following command outputs there from the computer where it doesn't work.

    nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
    nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com. 208.67.220.220
    nslookup whoami.akamai.net.
    nslookup www.exampleadultsite.com.

    @rotblitz - I've tried opening my own thread in the past but get no responses - should I try again and tag you?  Opened a thread in the community forum but are you saying I need to log a ticket?  I've done both.

    I'm not aware of any non-answered questions in this forum.  And I could not see another thread from you.  Is your thread possibly in "pending approval" state?

    Edit:  I have found your thread.

    @ace4fun

    Ah, welcome back!  Your last and only one message was back on July 13, and other users had hi-jacked your thread in the meantime...

    Why do you have two networks defined at your dashboard?  Do you have two internet connections?  If not, delete one of the networks, the one which isn't used.  Also, do you run an Updater to ensure that your IP address information is kept current at your OpenDNS dashboard?

    Because your last post is too long ago now, you need to post some command outputs again please:

    nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
    nslookup www.exampleadultsite.com.

    Also, post a screen shot of this web page: https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/96342331/content_filtering

    @ace4fun - one problem I had, that @rotblitz helped me identify, is my AVG Antivirus had a function called "Secure DNS" that was hijacking my router level OPENDNS settings.  The minute I disabled that the filtering started working correctly.

    No, it is not working then!

    Weird, when you posted the screen shot two hours ago, your (second) dashboard network was still in good shape.  What has happened in the meantime?  In what context do you get the error message?  It seems you did things different from what I asked for.  You need to strictly collaborate, else I cannot help!  (You didn't answer my questions and didn't post the information I asked for.)

    Regarding the error "your IP address is taken by another user" see
    https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/227988847

    Alternatively, try to obtain another IP address by disconnecting and reconnecting to the internet, and try again to update your dashboard network by clicking the green arrows icon when it appears.  If this does not succeed, you have to proceed with the KB article.

    @hgpilot,

    I had the exact same issue with my AVG software.

    Just as you stated, as soon as i turned off the Secure DNS setting, it all worked.

    Thanks alot!!

    Nobody here has handled the AVG / Avast Secure DNS / Real Site problem.  It was just falsely mentioned here, .e.g. by you, but effectively handled in another thread.  The people reporting problems in this thread here did not have an AVG / Avast problem, as clearly can be seen from their command outputs.
