[Solved] Inconsistent results from direct dns queries

Hi OpenDNS community

 

At my work we are trying to launch a new website. We set the DNS records, New ones so no TTL to worry about and it wasn't working...

Eventually we discovered it works fine with google DNS but when we query openDNS we get inconsistent results.

only around 1 in 10 queries using either dig domain.com @208.67.222.222 or nslookup domain.com 208.67.222.222 returns the correct result and always with a 0 TTL.

I'm struggling to explain this....

  Turns out the provided previous used had very very long TTL's set on the NS records. not OpenDNS issue at all other then getting varying results from successive queries to OpenDNS.

  Yes, seems to be. 

  Had planned for TTL's on the individual records www, mx etc but hadn't considered it on the NS records. Today I learned as they say.
