create ability to Block LGBT sites
I have the option of blocking Religion - because some people are atheist, and they don't want to expose themselves or their families to it.
I can block Guns - because some people are against them.
I can even block - Politics, and a range of other things I don't want my family exposed to.
But why can I not block LGBT? It is explicitly exempted in the Sexuality category.
I think that as long as you are allowing people to block Religion, I ought to be able to block LGBT sites because I don't want myself or my family exposed to it.
Well, I don't know why OpenDNS decided so, but I can assume it is because LGBT is from birth, same as heterosexual or male or female, so totally normal and natural, as everything what our Creator did. He apparently wanted the world to be that way.
I have a question for you. What do you want to be exposed to on the internet? A better approach for you may be to go for OpenDNS VIP which comes with whitelist-only mode. Only domains you allow can be visited. What about this?
I think it was a decision made by trying to be politically correct.
If they don't want to include it in the "Sexuality" category, then they should make it a stand-alone category.
Either way, I know I'm not the only one who would like this option.
I don't have the time, resources, or patience to go seek out every website on the internet to add it to a black list if it contains something I disagree with, nor is it reasonable to suggest that I add every website that is ok to a white list.
@rotblitz, you mention the 'Creator' with a capital "C", I assume you are talking about God. And if the Creator made people that way then where is the justification to block the category?.... I believe that is your argument.
If so, then I will agree if and only if they remove religion as a blockable category
And we are clearly digressing from the topic. This topic (LGBT) can easily cause heated debates in many circles... It is clearly a political topic, and it is clearly a religious topic. And many would disagree with your statement, "God cannot be the creator of religion. This was clearly a human invention."
This is exactly why I should have the option to block LGBT sites. This is thread is turning into a blog.
This is a serious request, if you disagree.. Then please vote NO and move on.
** A note to the Admins of OPEN DNS - I think the back and forth between rotblitz and myself illustrates perfectly why there should be an option to block the category
"It is clearly a political topic, and it is clearly a religious topic."
It is neither of them, but purely a biological or antroposophical topic as has been turned out after many serious scientific researches of different disciplines. I decided to not vote at all and to move on. I leave it with the rest of the community. Be confident that the idea will not attract attention to OpenDNS if not voted up by at least several hundred votes. Currently there are just two, yours and another.
Also, you still didn't answer my question. You listed a bunch of things you don't want to be exposed to on the internet, so my question was, what is the remaining stuff on the internet you want to be exposed to? (I recommended OpenDNS VIP with its whitelist-only mode for you. This seems to be most appropriate.)
We clearly have a difference of opinion, no problem, this is America, and it perfectly ok to disagree.
to answer your question, I feel your suggestion of OpenDNS VIP with its whitelist-only mode is not a reasonable solution for reasons already stated above:
"I don't have the time, resources, or patience to go seek out every website on the internet to add it to a black list if it contains something I disagree with, nor is it reasonable to suggest that I add every website that is ok to a white list."
Additionally, I do not feel obligated to express to you what I do not want to be exposed to on the internet because I feel it is not your concern or anyone's business.
"difference of opinion, no problem, this is America"
This is not a question of opinion, but of facts. America, or just the minor part USA? Yes, the latter propagates "alternative facts" since a while as a justification to disagree. And yes, the earth is definitely a plate, right?
"to express to you what I do not want to be exposed to on the internet"
This is not what I asked for, but I asked for the contrary. But ok, accepted. I move on.
I don’t know if OpenDNS has this, but Symantec has a website to review how they categorize websites, and to request reclassification if a site is incorrectly categorized.
However, I searched for LGBT sites, and put a few of them into this Symantec site to see how they are classified, and there is quite a variety...but nothing tagging them as ‘LGBT’, or even ‘Adult Themes’. Perhaps there are sites categorized as Adult Themed, but generally it looks like Symantec doesn’t consider LBGT, by itself, to be a risky or sensitive category. If you search for LGBT porn, you will likely find sites categorized as ‘Porn’.
For the complete list of categories that Symantec currently has, check out:
OpenDNS has the same features: https://community.opendns.com/domaintagging/faq/
Domain tagging is community effort anyway.

What the pushers of the LGBTQ narrative realize that the followers do not, is that it is anti-family and anti-human at its core. It is a tool to manipulate the masses for political power. A vast majority of people are not 'naturally' attracted to the same sex, nor are they 'the wrong gender'. A combination of programming of the subconscious mind via media, overt glorification (while it leaves a trail of broken children and adults never highlighted by media), and chemicals in the food and water are all contributing to increased rates of what would otherwise represent <1%.
I would like to be able to block it specifically.
