OpenDNS and router DYNDNS.org configuration
I want to use DYNDNS services on my router as I use a VPN and my DNS name for my clients. Why does the OpenDNS service not allow a domain name instead of an IP so this could work? Any collaborative integration would be acceptable really. Oh and I don't keep a machine on all the time to use the updater.

There are many threads on this subject throughout this forum. I will leave it to you to search for them for details, but essentially it comes down to security issues and concerns. OpenDNS will only accept IP address updates from a device on the network that is being updated. That means using an updater (theirs or a 3rd party) on a local device. This can also include various Dynamic DNS services on various routers that can either directly update OpenDNS, or update it via DNS-O-Matic (an OpenDNS property). It can even be updated via browser on a machine on the network.
With DNS-O-Matic you can not only update OpenDNS but various other services, including DDNS providers such as DynDNS.

Yes, DNS-O-Matic is the way to go to update multiple services. https://www.dnsomatic.com/
