For configuring this client, refer to http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:c5AmhGZR1LMJ:https://support.opendns.com/entries/31627210-Ddns-synology+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

For all services, your hostname will be all.dnsomatic.com; however, for OpenDNS updates your hostname would be your network name. The server to update to would be updates.dnsomatic.com.

Also, instead of supplying an IP, this should be left to dynamically be decided by the client.

    Thanks Alexander,

But i don't understand your answer. Synology DSM 5.1 now has a built-in DNS-O-Matic DDNS connector.

I created a no-ip.com account, for my public ip address (see pic_noip.jpg)
    I created a DNS-O-Matic account, with only the no-ip service ; i'll add OpenDNS later.   (see pic_dnsomatic.png)
From DSM 5.1, I'm able to directly use no-ip.com as a DDNS service (see pic_synology_noip_OK.png)
But I always have an error when I try to setup the DNS-O-Matic service (see pic_synology.png)
Only four parameters have to be set. the IP field is automatically filled by DSM.

    I don't understand why it doesn't work.

    Denis.

Your configuration looks fine.  Therefore, wouldn't this be a case for the Synology support?  How can somebody else know?  This is their firmware, not OpenDNS'.

    "I don't understand why it doesn't work."

I understand, the culprit is Synology's firmware.

    Hello Rotblitz,

I will open a case for Synology.
I tried the DDNSUpdater (community package), and it works fine.

    Thank you for your help,
    Denis.

That's definitely an odd error since the built in edition isn't able to connect. The other updater packages in theory communicate via the same channels (the dyn2 style api call), and it's possible the syncology implementation isn't using the right back end calls and the case with them may shed some light on this. In the meantime, the community package should allow you to update the IP via DNS-O-Matic.

In my case, it was the @ in my email address / user name that caused the problem.  Replace @ with %40 and it successfully connected to DNS-o-Matic

Out of curiosity, how did you figure that out?

Can't take credit for it...I saw the answer here http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=239&t=93949. Also describes how to modify the php code to handle the @

Please note that if your password has special characters in it, you may have issues as well.
