Unlike with other services at DNS-O-Matic, you do not enter yourname.duckdns.org, but just yourname as domain.

Thanks.  That did it.  Might be a good idea to have some instructions on the website.

Sorry to open up this old thread.  But it has been more than 2 days, It says Waiting for first update.  I put in the token and just "yourname" as the domain   Did I do something wrong?  Thanks.

It seems you don't run a working Updater which sends updates to DNS-O-Matic.

What is the token format then?  I put in token 147feacb-451f-4235-8926-xxxxxxxxxxxx   (The last 6 alphanumerical I replaced with 'x')  and the domain my domain name without duckdns.org?

You totally misunderstood me and how things work. :(

What you have entered at DNS-O-Matic may be right, but you must also run an update client locally to send your updates to DNS-O-Matic which again populates the updates to the services you have defined at DNS-O-Matic, like DuckDNS.

So again, what Updater do you run to send your updates to DNS-O-Matic?  Is it software on a computer or a built-in DDNS client on the router, NAS, DVR, IP camera, etc.?  Or don't you run an Updater at all?  Then you can wait forever... ("Waiting for first update")

You can also manually update from a web browser:

    https://updates.dnsomatic.com/nic/update

(You must enter your DNS-O-Matic/OpenDNS credentials.)

In my asus rt65u router, I have dnsomatic pointed as ddns service.  On dnsomatic, I have afraid.org and opendns configured, but duckdns is not working.  I will try to run the manuall update at home... Thanks.

What hostname did you specify in the DDNS update client on your router?  It should be none or all.dnsomatic.com in the update URL, else it will not cover all services you defined at DNS-O-Matic.

Sorry for the late response, but I got it to work.  According to this article.

    http://sohonetwork.blogspot.com/2015/02/dns-o-matic-waiting-for-first-update.html

    I have to go to:

    https://updates.dnsomatic.com/nic/update?hostname=all.dnsomatic.com
you will be prompted by username and password. Enter the credentials and check the history for update.

For some reason, it goes for almost a whole week and it doesn't update unless you force it...

Yes, as I said already above.

Fingers crossed that it continues to work with your built-in update client too...
