How do I reset my router?

My husband can't remember the password to our router and said we will need to reset it.  I'm trying to set up OpenDNS without him knowing (for his own protection!) so I would really like to get this done before he gets home.

  How do I start my airoplane?  ;-)

  You'll have to check the manual for your (unspecified) router to see how to reset it to the factory defaults.

  However, please note, if this was set up by a technician of your ISP, you may dump your internet connection and everything else if resetting to factory defaults.  Do this only if you know the details (credentials) of your internet access and everything.  Else you better get it done by your ISP.

  Unfortunately you are probably not able to save your router settings before resetting it, because you would need the password.  Hopefully you have done this in the past already to be prepared for such situations.

  Thank you. I ended up resetting it by pushing the reset button on the router. I did lose all the settings but my husband set it all back up again. Then I went in behind him and changed the DNS.

  Better don't ask what I would have said if my wife resetted one of our routers..... ;-)

  But well, I have a backup of all the settings on harddisk.
