How can I configure a Time Warner Cable Arris router
I went through the steps required and got the IP address for the router. 192.168.0.6. When i tried to put this address in the browser it went to a Time Warner site, not to the router webpage

Is this your manual? http://www.timewarnercable.com/content/dam/residential/pdfs/support/WirelessRouters/Arris%20DG860A_User_Guide_Standard1-4.pdf
You should be able to get to the admin interface with http://192.168.0.1/
However, I do not see a possibility to configure static DNS resolver addresses on this device. You may need to configure the resolver addresses on the end user devices.

If you are unable to change your ISP issued router/modem's DNS settings you can always change the DNS settings on your computer instead (see https://store.opendns.com/setup/computer/). You will get the same benefits, and if you have a small number of computers on your network, it's relatively easy.
Another option would be to install a third-party router, such as one you would buy at a store, in between the ISP's router and the rest of the devices on your network. You can then configure OpenDNS on that device and it will distribute the DNS settings to the devices on your network.
