Configuring Separate Routers (Kids vs Adults)

I've been using OpenDNS for a few years now and all was working fine. However, the main computer that was providing IP address updates to OpenDNS was XP so I replaced it with a Win7 machine. A few weeks later I realized this broke my OpenDNS rules. Long story short something isn't working right and I'm not sure where to find the fix.
Here's my configuration.
DSL ISP Modem/Router (adult network) ---> feeds to a 2nd router (kids network)
The plan is straight forward. The adults router has a couple of wired (xbox) and wireless (phones, tablet, laptops) configured on it. The kids router has a wired computer connected and wireless enabled for phone and two tablets.
I only want OpenDNS to block items browsed from the kids router but since I'm on DSL I need to use the OpenDNS Updater tool. Once I updated OpenDNS is blocking ALL the devices in the house, even those on the adult modem/router. This wasn't happening previously.
For my configuration I'm using the ISP provided DNS on the Adult network and OpenDNS on Kids network. The ISP modem/router feeds the Kids router via Port 4 to the internet port on the Linksys router.
What am I doing wrong or what configuration should I be using to only have the Kids network be blocked?

The Updater is totally unrelated to what is blocked and where. Only the OpenDNS resolver addresses being configured determine where your OpenDNS settings take place.
Your problem indicates that either the "adult" router has OpenDNS resolver addresses configured, or that the "adult" devices use the "kids'" router, or that the "adult" devices have the OpenDNS resolver addresses configured on them. There is no other option, so easy to solve.

maybe I should have added the network configuration that I use for each of the devices to see where the problem could be.
"Adult" -- main ISP modem & router combo
DHCP is enabled
router address - 192.168.2.1
IP address range - 192.168.2.10 --> 50
DNS - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4"Kids" router
connected from LAN port 4 on the "Adult" router
connected to the "Internet" port on the Linksys routerhas a static IP address of 192.168.2.2
subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
gateway - 192.168.2.1
DNS - 8.8.8.8DHCP sever - Enabled
IP address range - 192.168.1.100 to 119
DNS - 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
NAT - disabledLastly, the OpenDNS Updater tool is on a computer that is hard-wired to the "Kids" router.
I'm positive something is configured wrong because as soon as I disable the OpenDNS side everything functions fine. Enabled, and all the good stuff is blocked on ALL networks, "Kids" and "Adults"

No matter how the devices are connected, the default gateway on the "adult" end devices must be 192.168.2.2 and on the "kids'" end devices must be 192.168.2.1. The DHCP servers need to take care about this.

Not sure, but there is a chance that also the DNS server/forwarder functionality becomes inactive then.

Was this ever resolved? I have the same issue...
I've configured an Asus router with OpenDNS behind my U-verse Motorola NVG589. Both wireless radios are working and can access the Internet just fine, but I was surprised to find that the OpenDNS parental controls are in effect on BOTH networks, even though I only pointed the second (Asus) router to the OpenDNS DNS server. I'm using the "Enable Dynamic IP Update" feature and wondered if that had changed a setting somehow such that the U-verse residential gateway also linked to OpenDNS? Other ideas? My goal was to have the Asus wireless router with the parental controls for my kids, but the U-verse RG be open to all sites for my wife and me. I could have sworn that during the first couple days when i set this up that both routers behaved differently, in the way I intended (Asus = OpenDNS, Motorola = U-verse DNS).
