Is the Technicolor router also your modem?

I guess the answer would depend on why you need to replace the Xfinity equipment.

If it's because you can't properly configure the Xfinity equipment to support OpenDNS you might still need their equipment to act as your modem. In that case leave the phones plugged into their gear, and get your own modem that plus in "behind" the Xfinity gear.

If it's because you physically no longer have the Xfinity gear your options become quite limited because very few routers available to the general public support all those features, including modem, phone, internet router and WiFi

Similar to what mattwilson9090 said, we recommend adding a router in front of your modem rather than replacing the modem altogether so that it does not disturb any of the other services you get through your provider.  We have further instructions for you to do this here: https://opendns.zendesk.com/entries/57641770-Technicolor-TC8305C.  As long as you purchase a router that allows you to change its DNS settings you should be good to go.  If you decide to go the NETGEAR route I'd recommend getting one of the models listed here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24686/~/netgear-genie-supported-routers

Yes the Technicolor box is the modem as well.  I will go with a Netgear router that has Genie (I assume an OEM of OpenDNS).  Thanks for the help!
