Netgear R7000 DynamicDNS
I have a Netgear R7000 router that has the builtin Netgear DynamicDNS enabled, I have replaced the ISP DNS servers with the OpenDNS servers IPs. Should I now disable the Netgear builtin DynamicDNS service?

Configuring static DNS resolver addresses is unrelated to the Dynamic DNS service. These are two totally different things. The latter is an update client keeping services updated with your IP address. According to your manual (http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R7000/R7000_UM_26Feb2015.pdf) your router's DDNS supports Netgear DDNS, no-ip.com and DynDNS.org, but not OpenDNS, DNS-O-Matic or "user defined".

We cannot know, because you didn't say what you use it for. If you use one of the supported services, you must not disable it.

I am using the router's DDNS ( no-ip.com ) so that I may access my home network with a static URL ( somename.mynetgear.com ). Can this also be done with my OpenDNS account? I have installed the OpenDNS updater client on one of my internal network computers so that OpenDNS keeps the correct IP address.

No, OpenDNS cannot be used to update your DDNS provider, nor can your DDNS provider be used to update OpenDNS.
However, you can use DNS-O-Matic to update both OpenDNS and your DDNS provider. You would first configure DNS-O-Matic to update both services (and any others you want to add, mine does updates to 3 services right now). Assuming your router provides an option for DNS-O-Matic or custom you would then modify the DDNS setting on the router to point to DNS-O-Matic instead of no-ip.com

It seems you didn't read my answer thoroughly. I said: Your router's DDNS supports Netgear DDNS, no-ip.com and DynDNS.org, but not OpenDNS, DNS-O-Matic or "user defined".
Therefore you can update only the services supported by your router. OpenDNS and DNS-O-Matic are not one of them.

In your case this is apparently the way to go unless you get another router or firmware.
