I have read a lot of the FAQ articles and forum posts about DDNS updates on various routers. I'm a little confused if I can pull of what I need to do with my router, TP-Link Archer C7 (or presumably most TP-Link models would fall into this category).
My goal is to update the dynamic IP address on the Router level, so I don't have to have the Update Client installed on any specific devices on our network. We mostly have iDevices (iPhone and iPad) and streaming media devices in our household, so installing the OpenDNS Update Client isn't really an option for us.
Anyways, The Archer C7 does have a DDNS page, it has these 3 options of Service Providers:
I am aware that Dyndns is compatible with OpenDNS, however they no longer offer free accounts, so it seems this isn't a great option. I'm hoping to get this to work with No-IP.
From other Forum posts, it appears we need to be able to put in an "Update URL" which doesn't seem to be an option in the UI. There is only User Name, Password and Domain Name.
Attached is a screenshot of that page.
Here is my question: Is there a way to setup the Archer C7 to update the dynamic IP with OpenDNS, using the available DDNS settings in the router?
Thanks for your assistance!
