Updating IP address in open dns from a different IP address
Here's my dilemma. This is all too hard for most people. I have an AirPort Extreme with current firmware. My network uses a cable modem. It has a dynamic IP address. Using noip.com I can get the IP address associated with a host name and it updates. I don't want to run the computer based updater. A computer is rarely on the network. Just iPads, phones and the like. So I had this thought to create a script on a server I run in the cloud that would monitor the host name for an IP address change then update opendns. Now opendns seems to have the ability for me to use a url with my username and password to update the IP address to whatever I come from but this would be coming from a different server. Is there a way to pass IP address as well or to have opendns update from the host name? What is url to do such an update? Thanks.

OpenDNS does not allow IP addresses to be updated other than by something that is at the address being updated. In other words, no updates from third parties such as DDNS services or your own server in the cloud.
The only real exception to this is that it will accept updates from their own DNS-O-Matic service, but even that will still require something from the IP address in question to update the DNS-O-Matic service.
I don't use an AirPort, but you might be able to update DNS-O-Matic using it if it has a built-in option for DNS-O-Matic, or perhaps some sort of "user-defined" or "custom" option.
