Is the new Arris Surfboard SB6141 compatible with opendns?
Bought a Arris Surfboard SB6141. Is this compatible with OPENDNS?
There doesn't seem to be a specific guide for this router in the forums so you will need to follow the generic OpenDNS instructions which you can get to from the OpenDNS homepage. That said, if your ISP is not intercepting DNS traffic, and the router allows you to manually configure DNS servers for the WAN portion of the router you should be able to do everything you want with the router and OpenDNS. If the router intercepts DNS calls you will either need to contact your ISP to see if they will stop doing that, or perhaps you can make DNSCrypt work for you. If the router doesn't allow you to set DNS servers you can still use OpenDNS with it, you'll just have to point every device on the network to OpenDNS, either via DHCP, or by manually configuring it.
A router cannot be incompatible with OpenDNS, so yes, it is "compatible", if this term makes sense at all in this context. Unfortunately it looks like that you cannot configure the OpenDNS (or any other) resolver addresses on it, so your choice to use it in conjunction with OpenDNS was suboptimal. You still can use OpenDNS in the way mattwilson9090 has lined out.
Instead of "If the router intercepts DNS calls" you may have wanted to say "If the ISP intercepts DNS calls"?
