it would also be cutting the net off for mom & dad

Incorrect. Read the post. I set OpenDNS addresses only in the clients I want to protect. I do not use OpenDNS in my router.

Look at the Umbrella product line, especially the Prosumer version. I think all of the functionality you're looking for is already there. I even have a vague memory from a presentation that it can be made time based, but since I don't need that feature I haven't looked to confirm.

I seriously doubt any of these features will be added to the free product. It provides very good functionality that meets the needs of the vast majority of it's users. Plus, they are a business, which means they need to make money, so they can't give everything away for free. All of the features added to OpenDNS beyond this baseline of functionality have been added to the pay products, so you'll need to look at what exists there. You could also look a the VIP product line, but I'm not very familiar with it as it didn't fit my clients.

Alternatively, you could look at that Netgear line of routers that specifically leverages OpenDNS to handle all of it's filtering and other access controls.

Thanks. I haven't seen it mentioned in their other products, but maybe it's there. As for me, free stuff is nice but I'm willing to pay.

Agreed, free is nice, for both parties, but for anything beyond the basic free service people should expect to pay something.

You should be able to contact sales and ask them if VIP or Umbrella can provide time based services.

As I noted in my previous response, at this time Time of Day filtering is only available through our partnership with Netgear and the use of Parental Controls.  At this time there are not any plans to extend that into further service offerings.
