"would be great to be able to update the Dynamic IP of a home router-based wifi network from a mobile device. The App would need to be manual"

It would not be great, it is great already.  Here you go, your bookmark to exactly do what you want to do:
    https://updates.opendns.com/nic/update?hostname=NETWORK_LABEL
The "app" to be used is called browser.  Do you know that app?

Rotblitz, thanks for your bookmark. That is exactly what I was looking for. I primarily use my Andriod phone for web browsing and wanted to be able to update my dynamic IP without turning on my slow computer. It'll be a great help. I do think that if it were included within an app as well as it would be nice but for the time being, the bookmark link will work.

FYI for all you mobile users out there: you can save a bookmark in your browser then pin the bookmark to your home screen as an "app" button. That way it is as simple as clicking on the "app" button and it'll automatically update your info. Good luck!

The site seems mobile friendly to me.

I recovered my password, setup categories, and updated my ip address from the iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.2. I configured my pFsense router via iPhone also. The configuration pages that control settings work fine on my mobile devices.

I set a bookmark to https://login.opendns.com since the main page link to the login is tricky to locate.

Just want an iOs app with push notifications to alert me when blocked sites are requested and which machine on my home network requested it. Nothing more.

Neither sending e-mail notifications nor identifying local devices are supported by OpenDNS Home.  The latter is technically impossible anyway, because you don't send this information to OpenDNS through the normal DNS protocol.

There are other (non-DNS based) appliances around which can do this with installing software locally, possibly also with an iOS app.

Also, the original idea was to be able to access the dashboard in a "mobile friendly way".  That could mean a different URL with a different presentation of the dashboard pages, to be accessed through the browsers (e.g. Safari and Chrome) of the smart devices.

I suggest someone closes this thread for further comments, because it tends to become highly off-topic and irrelevant.

Hi Rotblitz, Thanks for your suggestion to close this thread, but the aim was to spark enough motivation to indeed create a mobile friendly way to administer opendns.

Until this has been achieved I would like to suggest that this thread should remain open.

I am completely open to alternative better suggestions of how we can achieve the mobile app.  What do you think?

Well, OpenDNS have marked this idea with "Planned", so let's see what they come up with.

And the idea isn't especially about an "app" (unless you mean the web browser integrated with mobile devices being there anyway). It was generally about "a mobile friendly way to administer OpenDNS", not more and not less.  A special app may not be needed at all.

As this is being marked as "Planned", it can be safely closed and updated later on with "Done", as usual.

Thanks Rotblitz, for the record, I raised the request specifically as "Create android and apple store app for opendns admin" I am not sure who changed the description, but an app is exactly what I want.  I would prefer no to use a web browser and there are many app development packages out there that can create apps for multiple hand held devices in one hit.

I changed the description back to "Create android and apple store app for opendns admin" for clarity.

you all are just looking at phone applications but what about a web app or browser plugin or add on the web market with windows 10 coming out is going to boom since it is practically web based people are going to need this service  i personally use it on windows 8.1 and it works great but the web browser would improve alot

the truth is that the app for windows isn't worth it because you have to login to your account after the app "update" your ip and you have to refresh the ip from add/manager networks tab. so i prefer https://updates.opendns.com/nic/update?hostname=NETWORK_LABEL

    @stefanos_94
Sorry to find you confused after many off-topic contributions here.  This long thread is not about an Updater app.  This thread is about a smart phone friendly dashboard, via a different HTTPS site, to be accessed by app or browser, for account administration and settings, excluding updates.

In the short time that I have been using your product I have found it to be thorough and incredibly well thought out. you seem to listen to your clients and model your product around there ever evolving needs in an industry that never stands still. The fact that you offer a free version for home use, particularly parents who are attempting to shelter their children from pornography or anybody who would attempt to take advantage of a child's trusting nature or ignorance of danger is admirable and says a lot for your business model.

I have been reading through these threads and the two topics that your non paying clients seem to request most are time stamps on the logs and mobile admin access to their dashboard via an app or a dedicated mobile site.

I would like to upvote both and would be willing to pay a small fee to be provided with an option to add either one individually or both together to my account. these services would convert myself and i'm guessing many other free to use clients into paying customers.

in my case, i would like a opendns updater for android, because my network is a dynamic ip and i want to update the ip via smartphone/tablet and is annoying to visit the dashboard every time to update the ip, especially when you visit the web with a cheaper device... it freezes

It seems you misunderstood the topic of this thread, but you didn't care.  As I said above already, it is not about an Updater, not at all.
