Block suicide searches, or limit to suicide prevention websites
Not plannedOur son has been severely depressed, we find How to Commit Suicide searches on his computer and his cell phone. Surprisingly there are many web sites that are more than happy to give advice on how to succeed with suicide. We have been using OpenDns almost since it started and it is a phenomenal service, but there is nothing in the categories other than weapons that we could use to block searches for how to successfully commit suicide. Seems like this would be a no brainer, but maybe it just has not gotten enough attention.

As mentioned by bfeely, this is not something that a DNS service is going to be able to do. While we can block the domains from resolving when he tries to click through on the searches, we can't stop him from searching. That would require you block access to Google and other search engines. Implementing Safe Search options on your home computer such as discussed in Google's Family Tools may assist in this, but I am uncertain whether suicide enablement sites are blocked by safe search. That is beyond the scope of what any service, except the search engine themselves, can realistically do.
