I've been a customer since Feb. 2010 and am still happy today.  Regarding LPC, I believe I made a suggestion shortly after I joined to have the ability to choose 'Days of Week' in addition to Hours of Day blocking.  We'd like to lighten-up on the weekends and let the kids access Facebook, Youtube, Twitter (the time-wasting sites).  Are there some tough challenges with delivering this feature?

  competition has this feature. It is very helpful with the kids. School days vs weekends.

  Days of the week blocks would be great. Weekends have a different set of rules, since its the weekend...

  I would like to add my vote to this. I've tried manually switching the access permissions to youtube.com on and off but it's lagging by as much as 1-2 days on the individual computers and tablets without manually cleaning the cache. OpenDNS seems to have stopped innovating here. Please keep up the good, good work :)

  Flushing the caches are all local functions.  Therefore this cannot be controlled by an external service like OpenDNS. E.g. running additional local software would be needed.  The local software is already available as commands of the OS and freely available tools, so use them!  OpenDNS cannot really add to this.  This is also the reason why scheduling is not available with normal OpenDNS, just with Netgear LPC.  A router is operated locally, therefore scheduling can be done with LPC.

  Ok. Is there a magic local DNS cache setting that makes it flush every 1 hour or so without any further interaction? If so, I can just set that on my computers and be done with it.

  Yes, this can be easily configured.  No matter, you may be able to disable the DNS cache completely.  I've done this in the past with success.

  I am able to update the permissions from my phone even if away from home and the kids are able to get in almost immediately, so that works fine, but I agree; it is crazy to not have the ability to exempt specific days of the week.

  I agree 100%. Like my HVAC programmable thermostat. I find my self constantly changing feature settings every weekend. It's so annoying...

  If you are looking for this feature in Netgear LPC, you have to refer to Netgear, because this is unrelated to OpenDNS.
