Here's my use case for this suggestion:
I have a modem that supports DynDns updating, so that my URL is constantly pointing to my (Dynamic) IP address. I do not want to install an OS dependent client, as that would require a box to be sitting on my network, to always be on (Drawing Power), and to have the client running. If I were able to point OpenDNS to my URL, I could rely on my router to keep the URL up-to-date, without the need for an additional machine on my network.
This has been discussed, however with no authoritative answer. Please consider offering URL based monitoring to allow easier setup for those in a similar situation.
