It is actually much simpler to register a .bit domain than any other TLD.
The usual, and most secure way to resolve .bit domains is a browser plugin that includes a namecoin node. Not all people are going to install that plugin, and these would trade a bit of the security features for increased convenience. Thus it would be cool, if many dns providers would resolve .bit domains using namecoin.
