Create Android and iOS updater
As more people switch to mobile devices, there may no longer be a desktop or server constantly turned on updating the IP address of your ISP for OpenDNS. This puts everyone at risk of OpenDNS not updating and protecting us from offensive content. I personally only have a NAS device and router that are on 24/7. Since there are too many different vendors making those devices, it would seem simpler to create Android and iOS apps that can run on phones since they are always on.

Android and iOS devices are mobile devices. Every time they connect to a new network (presumbably as a guest, not one that you own or control) you would then be trying to claim that IP address as your own and applying your own OpenDNS settings to someone else's network. Not only would that mess up their network, your network at home would no longer be protected by OpenDNS since your account would have a different address registered to it.
If you are going to use a free account you're best bet would be to use the firmware on your router (if it supports it) to use one of several methods to update you address with OpenDNS. Depending on your NAS model it might be possible to have it do that as well.
There are a few other options with paid accounts, but since I don't use Android or iOS I'm not certain what all of them are.

That might work out well if the SSID were unique enough, but most wireless networks I see use generic and non-unique names.
Also, when you take your mobile device away from home, if the IP address changes things still won't update with OpenDNS since there is nothing onsite to do the update.
The best way is still to have something onsite doing that, which is why I use the router whenever possible.

As Matt said, an updater does never belong on a roaming device, because it does a bad job there.

Excellent! They should both have a built-in update client, the NAS most likely one which supports what is needed, the router maybe too. Why don't you use them? Are you not aware or don't know how to use them or what?
