That should be easy and does not require any change in AVM's firmware or at OpenDNS.  It's up to you to use it.

Try with the following domain name:  myip.opendns.com
A DNS lookup to this domain returns the source IP address (in case of using OpenDNS' resolvers), and this is what the AVM DDNS check routine does...

    Hey rotblitz,

didn’t think, that it would be that easy :))

Why didn’t you mention this in the original discussion, which I linked in my idea? ;)

Thank you very much! I just copy-pasted it and hope this will work like forever :D

    Idea can be closed…

Good question!  You do not really expect me to recall what I did and why more than one year ago, do you? ;-)

How to add the AVM FritzBox to the supported routers? It's currently not listed

It is listed since a year already!  https://support.opendns.com/forums/21619474-Individual-Router-Configurations

    The article in detail: https://support.opendns.com/entries/67988140-Fritzbox-7390

Why did you think it is not listed?

thanks, yes... youre right. i was searching first in category "best for home use" (as it's very popular in germany) where i didn't find it. next i was searching for AVM which is the vendor of Fritz!Box and also no result in first section. anyway, my fault :) got it working.

Well, there's much more you can do on those AVM FRITZ!Boxes in regards to OpenDNS:

    • Block all outgoing port 53 (DNS) traffic to prevent users from manually changing the DNS servers on their devices.
Internet > Filter > Listen > Netzwerkanwendungen > Netzwerkanwendung hinzufügen

Internet > Filter > Zugangsprofile > Standard > Netzwerkanwendung sperren

    • Update OpenDNS through DNS-O-Matic (https://www.dnsomatic.com/):
Internet > Freigaben > Dynamic DNS
