Do these other services support updating a single IP address, or the entire subnet that a device is from? I could argue for doing it either way, as each has it advantages and disadvantages.

An AAAA record can contain only a single IPv6 address, so updating with a subnet doesn't make sense at all for normal dynamic DNS services.  These are for reaching a network (or better a specific device) from outside where only one IPv6 address can be used anyway.  Updating with a subnet would make sense only in case of OpenDNS, and there IPv6 still isn't supported with the dashboard use.

My specific request / idea here is only related to dynamic DNS services supported by DNS-O-Matic and supporting DDNS updates of AAAA records.

Aw, I didn't think it all the way through, in that this would be for registering DNS records, which necessarily need to be to specific addresses. Part of my mind was still in registering IPv6 addresses for use with OpenDNS, which is a completely different thing.

Regardless, I'd already voted to support it. Who knows, maybe it could be used as a baby step towards supporting full IPv6 support in OpenDNS as well.

This would be great for dual-stack ISP.

Hey developers! The simple way to implement this support is if the IP address supplied is in IPv6 format then update the AAAA record instead of the A record. This way nothing needs to be change on the DDNS clients they just need to be informed they can supply IPv6 addresses
