    @jimmy.harvey4dns
    You must flush both, your local resolver cache and your browser cache, to make changes appear immediately. Else you will be served out of your caches, even for days and weeks.

    @cindelicato
    How does one upload a profile picture? :) Thanks.
    In fact, I don't want published a photo from me, but an Avatar...

    @rotblitz  Honestly, I forget when I uploaded this pic.  It is me, but it's an old one.   I can't seem to find the profile setting where it is configured.

    For additional sake of clarification for jimmy:

    You can never block URLs with OpenDNS, but Domain Names (which you had indeed correctly used).

    (Now let's see which gravatar my opendns account picks up...)

    Hi Jimmy,

    If this is still an issue for you, please email us at support@opendns.com and we'll be more than happy to help. To ensure that OpenDNS is working properly for you, please flush your browser and DNS cache by following the instructions below:

    * http://www.opendns.com/support/article/67
    * http://www.opendns.com/support/article/68

    Also, make sure that your IP address is updated in your dashboard. Just a friendly FYI, here's some more information for maintaining your OpenDNS account with an dynamic IP address http://www.opendns.com/support/article/61.

    Thank you

    Anthony H.

    how can certain apps be blocked. for instance, if i add instagram.com to my blocked domains, will that block tablets in my wifi using the instagram app?

    If that app uses to connect to instagram.com, then yes, it will block the app from connecting to instagram.com. And according to their API (http://instagram.com/developer/) it really seems to connect to that domain.

    @ler... Sure, and I have a head cold today, so what? Neither of those are related to this topic or OpenDNS.

    Have a nice day!

    maybe, but like me you may have a site which evades, opendns. There is one site on my blacklist friv.com which somehow circumvents opendns every other site on the list is blocked but not friv.com. Might be your problem if you think you have blocked it properly.

    Only way I could block it was to block in my virus checker.

    "There is one site on my blacklist friv.com which somehow circumvents opendns"

    bussty, even such a site does not exist, see https://support.opendns.com/entries/22092909-One-site-can-not-be-blocked-driving-me-crazy

    I added friv.com to my "always block" list, and it is indeed blocked, as expected.

    Why can't I block this site http://lyricgames.wikispaces.com/ I think I block it but it continues to be available I have submitted it for community voting as a games site since its a sub domain it is inheriting its settings (which don't include games to my children's delight) I tried to block lyricgames.wikispaces.com/ and wikispaces.com/ but were told these were not correct domains - again not sure why In desperation I have uninstalled flash to slow my children down....

    Likely they are not correct domains as domain names don't have / or http:// or anything else of the sort in them.  lyricgames.wikispaces.com is your subdomain.

    Don't forget to flush all browser and local resolver caches on the target devices after adding to your whitelist.  You may also consider opening a ticket to see if you can get your domain tag approved sooner.

    I am trying to block the ads which appear beside web pages. I found the URL for many of these seems to be doubleclick.net, so I set up the following: ALWAYS BLOCK: googleads.g.doubleclick.net Unfortunately some ads starting with this url are still appearing whilst others are now a black place-holder. Why does it only block some ads?

    Because you limited this to the subdomain googleads.g.doubleclick.net only.  Instead you'll want to add doubleclick.net to your always block list which includes all its subdomains.

    Also, blocking ads will slow down your surfing speed significantly.  Why would you generate network traffic for something you don't want to see anyway?  Best is to block this with local measures, e.g. with AdBlock Plus, hosts file or Ghostery.

    Hola. Soy Alejandro desde Buenos Aires Argentina. Queria avisar que por favor se revise este sitio.  www.quepandulces.net .  Es un sitio pornografico y deberia incluirse en la categoria pornografica. Yo ya lo hice en mi lista de urls.  Muy bueno el servicio.
