As long as the command "nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com." indicates that you're using OpenDNS, you don't have to worry. Who knows how they obtain these measuring results...

Although their DNS server addresses are shown in the results, they may not be in effect at all.

Mr. Rotblitz - I get the following Non-authoritative answer: which.opendns.com text = "1.nyc" Well, that looks good, even if it is "Non-authoritative". Are you confident that Verizon's choice of Primary DNS in its external CO circuit does NOT override my choice of OpenDNS in my router? Thanks.

As long as that nslookup command comes back with the OpenDNS location (New York City in your case), and as long as http://welcome.opendns.com/ indicates that you're using OpenDNS, you can be confident that your ISP's DNS service is not in effect.

    "even if it is "Non-authoritative"."

All OpenDNS responses are non-authoritative, because OpenDNS is a recursive DNS service, same as your ISP's, not an (authoritative) DNS hosting service. If you ever get an authoritative response from OpenDNS, something is incredibly wrong...

Yes, http://welcome.opendns.com/ shows that I'm using OpenDNS.  All seems good.  Please just keep an eye out to make sure Verizon and the others don't suddenly interfere in future.  Thanks.

I'm a user like you and don't have a way to "keep an eye out" on Verizon...
