Check your OpenDNS domain stats to see what related domains are being accessed but not blocked, and block these.

    Hello,

As @rotblitz mentioned, you may want to enable your stats and logs feature, this will help you identify domains that are being requested specifically from the application. Please note, that the system will only record domain names, if the application is connecting via IP address, OpenDNS will not log it.

Please allow 24 hours for the system to collect data on your network. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,

I don't think you answered the question,  I have the same problem, the domains are blocked for browsing but they still allow access to tv streaming through an app.  eg

    tested Websites

    Iplayer - blocked

    STV player - blocked

    SkyGo - blocked

    4OD - blocked

    5 on demand - blocked

    Youtube - blocked

    Apps

    Iplayer - Not blocked

4OD - error message saying data unavailable

    STV player - not blocked

    Skygo - not blocked

    Youtube - not blocked

5 on demand - not blocked.

    Thanks

And you are sure you're using the same internet connection with the iOS device as with the browser?

Hi,  yes we provide wifi for  train operating companies and I performed a test using an ipad & iphone, and on each device, the website blocked but the app was open to these sites.

    Thanks

Then proceed as I said above.  Copying to here for your convenience again:

Check your OpenDNS domain stats to see what related domains are being accessed but not blocked, and block these.
    https://dashboard.opendns.com/stats/all/topdomains

As often in these cases, the apps may access different domain names than the browsers.  We can't know what domains these are, only the apps developers and website owners can.

For example, and after an internet search, it seems that the BBC iPlayer app uses subdomains of edgefcs.net and possibly others.  And ensure that iplayer.bbc.co.uk is being blocked by your settings.

Regarding YouTube see https://support.opendns.com/entries/30128744-YouTube-app-not-being-blocked-on-iPads and https://support.opendns.com/entries/27674610-youtube-is-not-being-blocked

I leave further researches for the other sites with you.

    feelinsonice.appspot.com
