Open DNS doesn't work: still websites being blocked

"Since a few weeks Open DNS doen't work anymore on my computer"

Are you sure?  Check it here: http://welcome.opendns.com/

"there are still websites I'm not able to visit because they're being blocked by my government."

Did you hear you could circumvent governmental blocking by using OpenDNS?  This is a hoax.  You normally cannot unless the blocking is DNS based.

"What can I do to solve this?"

Chase the government out of the country as many nations have done in the past.

    Thank you for your comment.

The link says it doesn't work indeed. It's strange that it's a hoax, because it did work in the past to circumvent governmental blocking (for websites such as downloading sites and gambling sites)...

Anyway, I went through all the instructions and Open DNS doesn't work anymore, while it did in the past. How is this possible?

It may be that your ISP started to redirect your DNS queries to their own DNS service.  Check it:

    nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.  208.67.220.220

If this says "This is not an OpenDNS resolver", then your ISP redirects your DNS queries.

You can try to circumvent this restriction by using the dnscrypt-proxy:  http://dnscrypt.org/
This can be used for circumvention only in case your ISP/Government does not block based on DPI.

What do I need to check? Do I just need to read what's written in your post?

    It says: nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.  208.67.220.220

You open a command prompt window and enter and execute this command.  Then you check its output.

    Oh, alright.

Well, this is the answer (it's in Dutch).

Your ISP does not redirect your DNS queries, and you can reach and could use OpenDNS.

If http://welcome.opendns.com/ still indicates that you're not using OpenDNS, then you didn't configure the resolver addresses correctly.  You may want to post the output of the following commands now.  No need to attach a screen shot, you can copy & paste the complete plain text too.

    nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.
    ipconfig  /all

Since it takes longer to type everything than to take a screenshot, here are the results. I can translate it if you want to.

Btw, I checked everything once again and my settings are correct.

LOL.  You don't have to type.  Right-click > mark > copy and then here: paste (Ctrl+v).  This is called "Copy & Paste".

    "here are the results."

This was wrong.  There were two different commands.  First execute one, then the other (without the order numbers).

    1. nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.
    2. ipconfig  /all

"Btw, I checked everything once again and my settings are correct."

If http://welcome.opendns.com/ says you're not using OpenDNS, then your settings are definitely incorrect.

"I can translate it if you want to."

Thanks, no need.  I'm multi-lingual, native German speaker which is pretty similar to Dutch.

Your DNS queries do not go to OpenDNS, but to hass02.dnsresv6.prd.telenet-ops.be and hass01.dnsresv6.prd.telenet-ops.be, because they are raised over IPv6..  Therefore your OpenDNS settings cannot take effect.

You have IPv6 enabled for this internet connection, and this circumvents OpenDNS.  Go into the properties of this network connection on your PC, and uncheck the IPv6 protocol.

    This should look like http://shared.opendns.com/img/start_win7_5.gif
