www.reddit.com is an alias only, because this site is CDN hosted by Akamai.  This comes with multiple changing IP addresses and totally different IP addresses and even different (sub)domain names depending on geographical location and the recursive DNS service being used.

    nslookup www.reddit.com.
    Server:  resolver2.opendns.com
    Address:  208.67.220.220

    Nicht autorisierte Antwort:
    Name:    a659.b.akamai.net
    Addresses:  62.154.232.50, 62.154.232.80
    Aliases:  www.reddit.com, reddit.com.edgesuite.net

    tracert 62.154.232.50

      1     1 ms     2 ms     1 ms  t-kiste_701 [192.168.2.1]
      2    30 ms    30 ms    29 ms  217.0.119.34
      3    33 ms    31 ms    31 ms  87.190.161.142
      4    30 ms    31 ms    31 ms  f-ed6-i.F.DE.NET.DTAG.DE [62.156.131.238]
      5    32 ms    31 ms    31 ms  62.154.232.50

    Or another DNS service:

    nslookup www.reddit.com.
    Server:  cache0703.ns.eu.uu.net
    Address:  193.101.111.20

    Nicht autorisierte Antwort:
    Name:    a659.b.akamai.net.0.1.cn.akamaitech.net
    Addresses:  80.157.149.51, 80.157.149.32
    Aliases:  www.reddit.com, reddit.com.edgesuite.net, a659.b.akamai.net

    tracert 80.157.149.51

      1     2 ms     1 ms     2 ms  t-kiste_701 [192.168.2.1]
      2    31 ms    29 ms    30 ms  217.0.119.34
      3    32 ms    32 ms    31 ms  87.190.161.138
      4    31 ms    30 ms    53 ms  f-ed4-i.F.DE.NET.DTAG.DE [62.154.14.218]
      5    32 ms    32 ms    31 ms  80.157.149.51

    All normal!

    "We pinged it"

Don't ping.  This is useless for troubleshooting DNS as you can clearly see.  Use dig, nslookup, host and the likes instead.
You may tracert/traceroute nevertheless, because this shows you if your ISP and the network carriers have configured routing orderly, as in my case.

"I was wondering however, is  there any way to get this fixed / force a different IP without having to switch DNS or having to put it up manually?"

Yes, you simply add an entry to your local hosts file like:
    62.154.232.50   www.reddit.com

Yes I understood that already. I think I phrased the question wrong... Right now, resolver1.opendns.com gives me

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: a659.b.akamai.net
    Addresses: 95.101.2.49
    95.101.2.81
    Aliases: www.reddit.com
    reddit.com.edgesuite.net

    the trace looks like this

    Tracing route to a88-221-14-34.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com [88.221.14.34]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 1 ms <1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1
    2 27 ms 27 ms 24 ms s3eea7a01.adsl.online.nl [62.234.122.1]
    3 23 ms 23 ms 23 ms 194.134.19.244
    4 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms ae3.cr1-asd6.nl.euro.net [194.134.161.229]
    5 23 ms 23 ms 24 ms ae0.br1-asd6.nl.euro.net [194.134.161.217]
    6 23 ms 23 ms 23 ms r1.ams1.nl.as5580.net [78.152.62.25]
    7 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms eth1-1.core1.ams1.nl.atrato.net [78.152.44.63]
    8 24 ms 23 ms 23 ms eth1-6.core1.ams2.nl.atrato.net [78.152.34.14]
    9 33 ms 33 ms 33 ms eth13-2.core1.par2.fr.atrato.net [78.152.44.241]

    10 43 ms 42 ms 42 ms eth7-1.core1.lon2.uk.atrato.net [78.152.44.242]

    11 42 ms 57 ms 42 ms eth3-2.r1.par2.fr.atrato.net [78.152.35.90]

    12 47 ms 47 ms 46 ms akamai-20940-gw.par02-1.fr.as5580.net [78.152.32.98]

    13 43 ms 43 ms 43 ms a88-221-14-34.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com [88.221.14.34]

    Trace complete.

For me it simply doesn't work for whatever reason. So let me rephrase that question, is there any way to simply see the other IP addresses that this CDN provides without having to swap my location/DNS/ISP?

I used the wrong Trace IP on that one, and i don't see how i can edit my comment so here's the correct one:

Tracing route to 95.101.2.49 over a maximum of 30 hops

    1 <1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1
    2 24 ms 189 ms 24 ms s3eea7a01.adsl.online.nl [62.234.122.1]

    "the trace looks like this"

The network carrier of your ISP (AS5580) apparently has problems with the routing or an outage.  Not so with me:

    tracert 95.101.2.49

      1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  t-kiste_701 [192.168.2.1]
      2    30 ms    30 ms    29 ms  217.0.119.34
      3    32 ms    33 ms    31 ms  87.190.161.142
      4    31 ms    31 ms    30 ms  f-ed5-i.F.DE.NET.DTAG.DE [217.5.95.58]
      5    32 ms    32 ms    31 ms  ffm-b12-link.telia.net [62.115.12.45]
      6    33 ms    31 ms    31 ms  ffm-bb2-link.telia.net [213.155.135.12]
      7    41 ms    39 ms    39 ms  hbg-bb2-link.telia.net [213.155.135.23]
      8    44 ms    42 ms    43 ms  adm-bb4-link.telia.net [80.91.246.220]
      9    42 ms    42 ms    64 ms  adm-b4-link.telia.net [80.91.247.67]
     10    43 ms    44 ms    43 ms  akamai-ic-302552-adm-b7.c.telia.net [62.115.34.142]
     11    43 ms    44 ms    44 ms  95.101.2.49

"For me it simply doesn't work for whatever reason."

This may be why you can't reach that site.  This has nothing to do with DNS, but with connectivity.  They fed the DNS services (like OpenDNS) with this IP address information, and this information is either wrong or bad, because the route or site may be down...
OpenDNS and other can just return what they have been told to return as DNS information.

"is there any way to simply see the other IP addresses that this CDN provides without having to swap my location/DNS/ISP?"

    Oh yes!  For example:

    nslookup www.reddit.com.  208.67.220.220
    nslookup www.reddit.com.  8.8.8.8
    nslookup www.reddit.com.  193.101.111.20
    etc.
