restricting iMessage from iphones

    Another way is simply setup restrictions on the device. If the phone is not connected to your wifi then the above block will not work.

    As always in such cases, you add the related domain names to your "always block" list in case iMessage uses DNS at all.  If you don't know the domain names, you may be able to identify them by looking at your domain stats.

    And, btw, if the connection is through the mobile phone network, you can't use OpenDNS at all.  OpenDNS is for networks you own, not for your devices in other networks.

    I have a few suggestions. You can block the following sites but do note: You will no longer be able to access the app store.

    Block the following sites:

    apple.com

    itunes.com

    icloud.com

    That might do the trick.

    Then an iPhone is of not much use anymore, except for phone calls.  A very old and simply mobile phone would do the job as well then.  You're saving lots of money.
