Multiple OpenDNS Accounts / Netgear Routers
Hi,
I have a bit of a complex question that is a little difficult to explain so bare with me. I work for a non-profit organization in the health sector and we have various residential sites where our patients live. We are currently rolling out internet connections at all of these sites and we are trying to setup web filtering for each residential site using separate usernames/accounts.
The issue that Im having is that after setting up the first account successfully and go to the next site, I run the Netgear software and it remembers the previous account I used and proceeds to activate parental controls using the same account. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling but I get the same issue (it remembers the last username). When I uninstall and try to use a different account, I get an error stating that the router is linked to another profile (or something to that effect, I cant remember the exact error).
Im just wondering if I can get around this? ie, remove the old account and setup filtering with a different account?
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
Dave

"I get an error stating that the router is linked to another profile"
Well, it seems you're wandering around with the same router to establish the internet connections. This is not what you can do. Your LPC router's device ID is the criteria to associate you with your account. You would have to use different Netgear LPC routers at each location.

Thanks for your responses, Im using the same laptop to setup multiple routers not vice versa. I would like each router to use a different parental control account but when I download and install (or uninstall/reinstall), the Netgear Parental controls software remembers the previous username entered and links that account with the router. I would like to know;
1. Can this be undone (Uninstall parental controls and reinstall with a different account)
2. Delete the cached username (Im sure there is a registry entry I could delete) so I can run the software and login with a different account.
Thanks for your time.

A member of the support team can remove the different routers from your account so you can register them with other accounts. Please open a support ticket as your email address/router infor will be required. I'm not sure why each router is using the same username, but you can manage more than one LPC device using the same account. Are you using the NETGEAR Genie or Management Utility to set these up?
