Is OpenDNS IP Updater needed when using a Netgear LPC ?
Hi,
I have been using the OpenDNS ip updater utility on my machine until now, but I recently acquired a Netgear R6300 router and I have set up the builtin LPC.
Now that I am using the netgear LPC, I am wondering whether the ip updater utility is still needed, or is the IP update something handled automatically by the router or LPC ?
thx

You no longer need the IP updater on your machine. The LPC system does not filter by IP so it is not necessary to keep your IP address updated.
The normal OpenDNS service (which uses an IP address) and the Netgear Live Parental Controls (LPC) are not compatible with each other. This is due because the Netgear LPC service and the normal OpenDNS service use two different mechanisms to deliver content filtering to your network. If you currently have your IP address registered in an OpenDNS account you should remove it because it can cause conflicts with your LPC filtering.
