You cannot use the Live Parental Control feature of the original Netgear router with the DD-WRT firmware, but you need to use the normal OpenDNS Home.

    Here are the instructions: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OpenDNS

Your dashboard is now at https://dashboard.opendns.com/settings/ - no longer at netgear.opendns.com.
You should be able to use this with your existing OpenDNS credentials and e-mail address.

Unfortunately, opendns is not blocking anything now even though I have the DNS server ip addresses (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) configured in the DHCP section of the router.

Fill the 3rd DNS server entry with one of 208.67.222.220 or 208.67.220.222.

Still problems?  Post the complete plain text output of the following command here, so that I can see what the problem may be.

    nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.

I added the first one, then did ipconfig /refresh and ipconfig /renew and then:

    C:\Users\me>ipconfig /flushdns

    Windows IP Configuration

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

    C:\Users\me>nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com
    Server: DD-WRT
    Address: 192.168.1.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    debug.opendns.com text =

    "server 5.nyc"
    debug.opendns.com text =

    "flags 20 0 2F6 0"
    debug.opendns.com text =

    "originid 23673095"
    debug.opendns.com text =

    "actype 1"
    debug.opendns.com text =

    "source 68.50.145.230:11475"

rather, I did ipconfig /release (not "refresh")

    Ipconfig /release is useless.

It seems you need to visit your dashboard to configure blocking as you want.

I'd like to disassociate the netgear.opendns.com site from my account completely but I don't see how. I'm concerned that it is mucking up the works.

Your settings at netgear.opendns.com shouldn't have any effect or impact.  To get your Netgear device info purged you need to open a support ticket.

I have the same issue where i was using opendns on a netgear router, then swapped to dd-wrt, brought a opendns account, now I can not get opendns it to work despite the correct dns servers showing.  Did getting the the netgear.opendns.com removed work for you ?

You need to open a support ticket and they will remove the old entry that's causing trouble.
