Error when login OpenDns via netgear gennie

what on earth is wrong with you guys? I asked for support, and received nothing on this forum but smarmy, snide, snippy commentary.
"much vaunted" , and "one definitely cannot trust it". How would you know the efficacy of the algorithms I have authored over the years?
Can you at least make proactive, productive comments conducive to a solution instead of these child-like, playground bully comments?
I opened a support ticket. The number is 125801.

I'm having the same problem with a Netgear N600 router. I have a good Open DNS account that I previously used with a Netgear 750 router, but trying to replace the broken 750 with the new 600, Netgear Genie insists there's a problem with the logon to OpenDNS. It will proceed no farther than "error signing in" please be sure you're connected to the internet. I am.

Having the same problem with C3700 model. Very frustrating. I called tech support a few weeks ago when I could not access OpenDNS at all and was told there was a pending firmware update. Now that I can access OpenDNS, I get an error when I try to connect through Genie that I am not connected to internet. Also both my wireless printers (Brother HL-2280DW and Lexmark ProspectPro205) are no longer connecting to my network. Help!

The problem reported in the initial post in this thread was the person having the same consistent error message about an error signing in, not a missing CD.
if you need the software required to connect with and manage your router you should visit the vendor's website and download the software from there.

I guess I should have been more specific. The problem I'm having is that when I try to set up parental controls on netgear genie using openDNS I get as far as the login page but when i try to log in i get the message "There was an error signing in, please make sure you're connected to the internet and try again." I've tried logging in without Netgear genie using the software CD included with my device but they did not sell these devices with CDs. I also have the C3700

If you're getting this error message with your LPC device "there was an error signing in, please make sure you're connected to the internet and try again", please open a support ticket with us at support@opendns.com, so we can look further into the issue.
Additionally, let's make sure that we are being courteous to one another in the forum threads.

I'm getting the same error logging into OpenDNS account from NetGear Genie, “There was an error signing in, please make sure you’re connected to the Internet and try again.” I have NetGear C3700 – WiFi Cable Modem Router. Yes, I emailed support@opendns.com to open a support ticket.

See the tab "Submit a request" on top of the page? That would have been a better place.
Or from your dashboard: https://dashboard.opendns.com/support/ -
The best solution that I have found was to unplug the router find the old box that it came in, repackage it and place it for sale on Ebay!! Then go out and purchase a router/modem that actually works such as a Surfboard. It worked great for me and I actually got almost full price for the modem. And no more wasting time with krass support personnel on Opendns or lacking support on Netgear. I haven't had a problem since. Best solution yet!!!

You may be able to use the older LPC Management Utility from the links below on NETGEAR C3X00 devices; however, the Genie is confirmed to not work on these router-modems and are awaiting a patch from NETGEAR as you have confirmed.
Mac LPC Manager: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/parentalcontrols/mac/LPCManager_v1.0.4.dmg
Mac User Utility: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/parentalcontrols/LPCUserUtility.dmg
Windows User Utility and LPC Manager: http://opendns.com/downloads and download the "NETGEARManagementUtility-2.1.6-install" entry

I just LOVE buying a product that clearly states that it can do parental control features like scheduled internet availability... and it doesn't work!! That's the ONLY reason I bought this router!
**WORKAROUND FOUND!** To implement scheduled internet availability, I setup a timer on my phone to remind me to walk over and hit the power button on my great new NetGear router with that awesome Net Genie software. To make this work, don't forget to also set a phone alarm to remind you to turn the power back on at some point. This works great!!! One downside is that it will disable the internet for everyone else in the household, including yourself. But, the rest of the family will understand and think you're a great guy for figuring this out.
