What's your exact Netgear router model?

"Gennie software fails with this error?"  -  What is "this" error message from Genie?  You didn't say it.

"No fix from Netgear?"  -  You had to ask Netgear, not here.

"When I check the router, DNS's are set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.222... somebody post, they are not useful any more."

Why this, and why not useful?  These are valid OpenDNS resolver addresses.

    Router Model WNDR3400v2.

What is "this" error message from Genie?. There is not an explicit error reported. The error is because DNS configured by the app, blocks completely the internet connection.

You had to ask Netgear, not here. The Genie app, interacts with OpenDNS. This forum is about "Netgear live parental Control" which is configured by means of Genie app. Is good people using Live Parental Control, (OpenDNS managed) know about this issue.

DNS's are set on the router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.222... These DNS's blocks all internet web surfing. Which DNS's are correct for Live Parental Control?

Genie is solely supported by Netgear, not by OpenDNS, no matter if it interacts with OpenDNS.  It is a pure Netgear product, so you must refer to Netgear support.

Whatever, according to http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24686/ your router model can be used with Genie.

"Which DNS's are correct for Live Parental Control?"

You don't need to care about.  This is being configured automatically when enabling LPC.  So, do not attempt to configure the OpenDNS resolver addresses manually.

Instead of using Genie, you could try to use the older Management Utility and User Utility:
    https://www.opendns.com/downloads/
Could be that this works better for your router.
