On two different Windows computers (Win7 64bit and Vista Business 64bit) Genie won't install. It installs just fine onto a Macbook with OS X Yosemite. I downloaded it fresh on both the Windows PCs, and on both I get a popup box. Title says, "NETGEAR Genie will be stopped." And the text of the popup says, "Current NETGEAR Genie will be stopped." There is an OK and Cancel button. Hit OK, it disappears. No longer running in Task Manager. (I do see it before I hit OK.)
I have Bitdefender for antivirus. It is up to date. Beyond that I can't think of anything which could block the app.
My router is a WNR1000v3 (Firmware Version V188.8.131.52_60.0.93NA).
Also I did have an OpenDNS account before trying to configure Genie, but I doubt that's an issue.
