Google domain blocks Youtube
Hello, I am new to OpenDNS, but I really love the parental controls so far! The only website that gives me trouble is Google, so I switched my whole family to Bing and blocked Google's domain. This worked incredibly well, but our family has noticed that YouTube now does not function properly with Google's domain blocked. If I unblock Google's domain, YouTube works properly, but if I block it, it does not. I tried "White listing" YouTube.com, but that did not help. Will we need to sacrifice YouTube as well in order to block Google's domain or is there another way of allowing one without the other? We were only hoping to avoid allowing inappropriate searches and Bing protects that, but google does not. Putting on "Safe Search" is not an option, because we are talking about too many devices and too much to monitor. Thanks!

Well, didn't you know that YouTube is Google? Google bought YouTube years ago, and therefore many domains are shared by both, Google and Google (= YouTube). ;-)
Not sure what Google services you exactly want to block, but you can try to add the following domains to your "always block" list:
- www.google.com (Foremost - this may render the search engine and some other services unusable.)
- images.google.com (This may render the image search unusable.)
- mail.google.com (Google Mail)
- video.google.com (Video search)
- ...and so forth...
Do not add e.g. google.com, because this impacts YouTube and other Google services.
Let us know if this has helped you.
Btw, re Bing, if you want to block something there, you may want to try with adding explicit.bing.net to your blacklist.
