preferred dns ip repeatedly becomes blank
The preferred IP address for TCP/IP is repeatedly becoming blank on XP, preventing access to the internet. If I re-enter 127.0.0.1 or a dns server IP address I can connect to the internet briefly before the IP address blanks out again. The only way to keep a persistent IP address for the preferred dns IP is to disable opendns.

I have been using dnscrypt 0.0.6 as it normally installs since July 2013. That is what I have to shut down to keep the IP fields from blanking out. Initially there was a different problem, associated with rebooting XP: dnscrypt resets the dns IP fields to 127.0.0.1 but then wouldn't function after a reboot -- I had to manually change the dns IP back to a normal IP and restart dnscrypt. That problem eventually went away, then this one started 3 weeks ago, a few days after connecting to a verizon FIOS router in another state, but I'm now back on my normal router and dsl. -
I'm moving this to the DNSCrypt forum. I would highly recommend making sure you have the latest version of DNSCrypt proxy and an updated GUI. See the DNSCrypt website at http://www.dnscrypt.org .

What is the relation between the dnscrypt.org download vs https://www.opendns.com/technology/dnscrypt/ -> shared.opendns.com/dnscrypt/packages/windows-client/DNSCryptWin-v0.0.6.exe -
DNSCrypt 0.0.6 is a very old proxy and GUI and should be removed from or replaced at the OpenDNS website. This is no longer current.
The latest version can be found at http://dnscrypt.org/ and github. This is frequently updated and well maintained.
I also recommand to not use a GUI, but to install and run the dnscrypt-proxy stand-alone. This ensures that your TCP/IPv4 settings are not changed without your will as you have experienced.
