OpenDNS Filtering stops working regularly (2024)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing an issue where OpenDNS filtering works for a period of time, but then suddenly stops functioning as expected.

I’ve also updated the IPv6 DNS addresses on my router to 2620:119:35::35 and 2620:119:53::53, as they were previously set to "default."

Lastly, I’ve come across these CMD commands in other posts:

  • nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
  • nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com. 208.67.220.123
  • nslookup www.exampleadultsite.com.
  • netsh interface ip show dns

Here is the output I’m getting:

What could the issue be?

    Update 30/8/24:

    Yesterday I used the command "ipconfig /flushdns" which temporarily resolved the issue for 1 day. 

    Today all website filtering stopped working again and the CMD command doesn't work anymore.

    I have seen some similar behaviour where blocked site is still working in another computer in the home WIFI. What better way to make OpenDNS to block those site for sure?

    Update: Now it's working. I've changed the ipv6 DNS in my router settings from default ones to the OpenDNS ones. Before I had changed only the ipv4.



    Then I also clicked the double arrow option in my openDNS settings to switch the IP:
