parental controls blocks even when set on "nothing"

Hi. I have had so much trouble with the parental control feature blocking sites my school kids need that I tried to set it for ONLY phishing and porn.  This setting blocks access to their google drives, email, facebook, etc.  So, I tested each separately - they both block access to google - even though the network is running fine.  Then, realized that even setting the parental control at "nothing" blocks key websites.  Only solution was to "Disable Parental Controls", which made the whole netgear parental controls irrelevant.

My only real goal, in fact, is to keep pornography out of the house. 

I've owned the netgear router for two years and it used to work.

Anyone able to help?

  Ensure that you do not use Netgear Live Parental Controls and OpenDNS Home in parallel.  These services are incompatible and cause the inconsistencies you're reporting.
